College of Engineering Munnar is an Institute of higher learning established by the Government of Kerala and is managed by the Center for Continuing Education Kerala ( CCEK ). The Institution started in the year 2000 was affiliated with Cochin University of Science and Technology and is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University Kerala from 2015 admission onwards. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The Chairman of the Governing Body of the institution is the Hon’ble Minister for Education, Government of Kerala, and the Vice-Chairman is the Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Government of Kerala. Since its inception, CEM has been priding itself on creating professional opportunities for its students and equipping them to become highly successful in their chosen fields. Located in one of the most livable cities in the world, and associated with one of the finest universities in the region, the campus attracts students from all over the country. It is established on 26 acres of land in the Kannan Devan hills, just one kilometer from Munnar town.

Course offered:

The College offers B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, M.tech in Computer Science & Engineering, and Power Electronics.

Infrastructure and facilities :

Hostel Facilities

The College has five main Hostels - The Men’s Hostel – I, The Men’s Hostel – II (Near SBT), Lady's Hostel, Staff Hostel, and C7 Hostel. Ladies Hostel can nearly accommodate 300 students. These Hostels have separate establishments and are headed by the Warden and assisted by the Resident Tutors. Mr. Sumesh Devakaran Associate Professor in CSE is the warden of Staff Hostel and Men's Hostel. Mr. Vigilkumar V V, Asst. Professor in IT is the warden of Lady's Hostels.

Co-operative Society

The cooperative society store caters to the needs of the students and employees of this college. Essential stationery, textbooks, etc. are available in the store.

Staff Club

A motivated and focused workforce is a boon to any organization. Staff Club enthusiastically coordinates activities to create a cordial and motivating work atmosphere in the college with a motto of making college a home away from home. The festival celebrations like Onam etc. are organized by the Staff Club. They also conduct yearly staff tours based on the yearly contribution made by the members. 

College Canteen

A spacious canteen that has been set up with the financial assistance of the College Development Fund (CDF), functions in the campus. 

Internet and Campus Connectivity

GECI has a 2 Mbps broadband internet connection, along with 10 more 512 Mbps connections under National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technologies (NMEICT) program. The students can access the internet through Campus Area Network (CAN) and Wireless Area Networks (WAN). 

Ladies Amenity Centre

The College has a lady's amenity center catering to the female students of the college.

Library

The College Library is in the process of expansion. Currently, it has around 12000 books in over 3100 titles. The Library subscribes to 36 National journals, 36 International journals, 5 Newspapers, and 9 periodicals. It also subscribes to all the IEEE e-journals under Indest Consortium. Library operations are computerized using SOUL software. The Library is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
